Clashes broke out between police officers and demonstrators at an anti-government march in Buenos Aires on Thursday.
The group are demanding the implementation of a national food emergency scheme, back payment of salaries and the reinstatement of previously fired state employees, among other measures.
Riot police used shields, batons and pepper spray to prevent protesters from setting up camp outside the Social Development Ministry in Plaza de Mayo.
“We have received a huge amount of hits from many colleagues an indiscriminate repression that has nothing to do with responding to a social protest”, said trade unionist Belliboni.
Argentina is currently facing its highest inflation rate since 1991, with the most vulnerable sectors of society expected to bear the brunt of the price rises.
