At least 46 people were injured, according to the Armenian Health Ministry, as clashes erupted between protesters and police at a mass rally against former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s plans to become candidate for prime minister, in Yerevan, Monday. Reportedly, six of those injured were police officers.

Thousands of people took part in the demonstration, as the country’s parliament prepares to vote on the matter on April 17.

Sarsgyan was approved as the candidate for the post of prime minister by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) last week.
