Tens of thousands of climate activists including school children joined the global climate protest in Sydney’s Hyde Park on Friday.
“I’m scared of living in a world with no turtles. I’m scared of living in a world without the Great Barrier Reef,” said a 10-year-old activist from stage.
“It’s time for government, not only the Australian government, but governments all around the world to take notice to start listening to the youth of our world,” said a coal miner at the rally.
The march is one of many demonstrations taking place in Australia and across the globe with millions of people expected to join the protest three days ahead of the UN summit on climate.
Australia was among the nations barred from speaking at the event due to its excessive reliance on coal and refusal to contribute money to a global green energy fund.
