Ministers of the Austrian coalition were seen entering the Chancellery in Vienna on Monday, following the Chancellor’s Sebastian Kurz announcement of snap elections due to the video scandal that has already resulted in the resignation of former FPO leader and former Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache.

Minister of Transport, Innovation and Technology Norbert Hofer and Federal Minister of Finance Hartwig Loger were at the Austrian Chancellery following the elections announcement.

“I have been doing my job for a year and a half and we have to wait for the federal president to make a decision,” commented Minister of Finance Hartwig Loger as he left the building.

Earlier on Monday, Sebastian Kurz announced that the country will hold snap elections in the wake of a scandal involving the Chairman of the Freedom Party (FPO) and former Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache that resulted in his resignation.

A widely-circulated video shows Strache allegedly accepting support in the elections from a woman claiming to have Russian ties in exchange for public contracts in 2017.
