French President Emmanuel Macron commented on Trump’s claim about Germany being owned by Russia while speaking at the NATO Summit in Brussels on Thursday.

“It is legitimate that an ally tells his opinion on strategic matters concerning Russia,” he said, adding “that President Trump is assessing the situation or giving his opinion doesn’t shock me.”

Macron said he would be meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and on the subject of Ukraine, said “we really wish for collective security to be restored in the region.”

Aside from politics, Macron took the time to speak about the upcoming World Cup Final in Moscow on Sunday. Macron praised the fact that four European teams made it to the top four, and of ‘Les Bleus’ said “there will be an entire country behind them with lots of strength.”
