Despite the disappointment of a quarterfinal loss on Sunday, dozens of Brazilian fans wearing caps in Brazil’s colours gave the women’s football team an enthusiastic reception as they arrived at the Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo on Tuesday.
Fans were seen playing music, cheering, singing and waving placards with congratulatory messages for the team as the members walked out of the airport with Brazilian coach Vadao heralding it as “an important moment for women’s football” adding that “women’s football never had so much media, so much influence for the Brazilian people as we do now”.
Brazil lost to France 2-1 in the first quarterfinal of the ongoing FIFA 2019 Women’s World Cup.
