France 24 Madrid correspondent Sarah Morris gives us a look into both sides of the debate on the failed bid for Catalan independence from Spain. The prosecution has said that the independance movement was “a coup d’état. Nothing more, nothing less,” citing the harrassment of police officers as justification for charges of rebellion. However, defense lawyers have stated that all incidents of violence were isolated and cannot constitute a coup d’état. Four months of hearings culminate on Wednesday, as all twelve defendants are expected to take the stand one last time.
