At least 200 people gathered to enjoy the nail-biting 2019 Hooters Worldwide Wing-Eating Championships in South Lake Tahoe, California on Wednesday.
Twelve contestants fought for $10,000 (around €9,000) prize by eating hundreds of chicken wings in just ten minutes.
The winner, competitive eater Geoffrey Esper, managed to beat Joey Chestnut who is currently ranked world number one by Major League Eating, with 281 chicken wings.
Esper said that his victory was unexpected.
“I didn’t think I had a chance, coming in today I was tired from travelling and stuff. I just did my best and I’m glad it paid off,” the victor said.
