Ex-Iranian diplomat: ‘US position on Hezbollah is wrong’

The United States is offering millions of dollars for information about two senior Hezbollah officials. The State Department says Talal Hamiyah and Fu’ud Shukr have played key roles in Hezbollah attacks targeting US citizens. Shukur is accused of being involved in a major attack in Beirut in 1983 that killed 241 US service personnel were killed.

Seyed Hossein Mousavian, a former Iranian Diplomat who has negotiated with Hezbollah and is now a Middle East specialist at Princeton University, tells Al Jazeera why Hezbollah is a positive force and should be backed by the West in the fight against ISIL.

“The US position on Hezbollah is the wrong position. Right now, Hezbollah is winning the fight against ISIL and that should be a priority for the United States,” he said.
