French firefighters occupied the Place de la Republique in Paris on Monday, as part of a mobilisation against proposed reforms to the pension system.
The protest action, which kicked off a five-day-long encampment at the Paris square, was reportedly called by the firefighters’ union Sud-SDIS.
“We are called out 365 days a year, and therefore we would like the population come to support us a minute, an hour, a day or a night – this is the action,” said firefighter Remy Chabbouh.
