France marks yellow vest anniversary with tear gas and water cannon | DW News

Protesters have staged a series of demonstrations across France to mark the first anniversary of the yellow vest movement. Police turned water cannon on activists in Paris. Protestors also targeted an HSBC bank. The gilets jaunes actions peaked at the end of last year, bringing hundreds of thousands onto the streets to oppose President Emmanuel Macron’s inability to combat high living costs and inequality. The numbers taking part have since fallen.
