Algeria supporters clashed with police after the north African country reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday.
Violence began as police tried to clear the area around the Arc de Triomphe, where fans had gathered to celebrate.
Fireworks, flares and tear gas canisters filled the air with smoke putting a dampener on celebrations.
The game ended 1-1 after extra time before Algeria beat the Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties.
Algeria, seeking the first Afcon triumph since 1990, will now meet Nigeria in Cairo on Sunday.
