Protesters flocked to the streets of Cologne on Saturday to protest against Turkish military involvement in the north-eastern Syrian enclave of Afrin.

Protesters waves flags of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).

The demonstrators were also marching with banners reading ‘#StopAfrinGenocide’, ‘The Turkish fascist occupation army out of Afrin!’ and ‘Yes to the liberation of Afrin.’

The YPG and YPJ withdrew from Afrin in 2018, following the Turkish-led ‘Olive Branch’ military operation against Syrian Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
