Germany: Hostage rescued unharmed from Lubeck Prison

The woman taken hostage by an armed inmate in Lubeck Prison in the northern German port city of Lubeck was rescued and is uninjured, confirmed a police spokesperson as he spoke to journalists outside the prison on Monday.

The perpetrator, 36-year-old Romanian Danilo P, was serving time for a sexual offence. He was lightly injured after special police forces subdued him. The woman, believed to be a psychologist, is receiving medical attention.

Police spokesperson Uwe Keller said: “the suspect, that is an inmate here at the Lubeck Prison was overpowered, he is lightly injured, the woman who was taken hostage is not injured.”
