An unusually strong tornado hit western Germany on Wednesday evening, as shown in footage filmed in Schwalmtal, North Rhine-Westphalia.
Two people were injured in Viersen, 10km (6.2mi) northeast of Schwalmtal, which was hit especially hard by the natural phenomenon.
The F3 category tornado lasted around 10 minutes and damaged 40 to 50 houses in the process. Due to the many fallen trees, roads were blocked and a train line was closed.
A tornado of this scale is a rarity in Germany.
