Greece: Fleet of planes and helicopters battles wildfires north of Athens

Hundreds of firefighters and several water bombers battled wildfire on the Greek island of Evia (Euboea), north of Athens on Wednesday, as the government declared a state of emergency earlier in the day.

Footage shows an Erickson S-64 Air-Crane dropping water on multiple fires as the forest is engulfed in smoke.

Athens which is 110 km (70 miles) away from Evia has been covered with smoke since Tuesday with some residents reporting ash falling from the sky.
