Around two thousand Hondurans gathered at a public bus terminal in San Pedro Sula on Tuesday, to form a migrant caravan headed to the United States.

Footage shows families including young children waiting at the bus terminal for the caravan to depart.

“Here the economic situation is not right. Every day things are getting more expensive, and we have children and family and we can not afford them,” said Honduran national Denis Orlando Irias.

“I leave my four children but I am sad to leave them for the reason that there is no work here in Honduras,” said Luis Alonso Matamoros, another hopeful migrant.

Hondurans traveled from all over the country to San Pedro Sula this week after learning about the journey from an advertisement circulated on social media and local news reports.
