Beijing’s two-day Hot & Spicy festival kicked off with a chili eating contest on Saturday. Spicy food lovers went through 10 kinds of the world’s hottest peppers.
The winner, Patrick McCarthy from Ohio, beat his competitors by finishing the final round first. He said: “I was here to win, and I did it. I came, I saw, I conquered.”
The festival also offers live music and a wide range of spicy food from more than 50 vendors.
