International Waters: US Coast Guard seizes drug-smuggling submarine

Footage released by the US Coast Guard (USCG) on Thursday shows its Cutter Munro crew members boarding a submarine suspected of smuggling drugs in international waters, in the Pacific Ocean on June 18.

The footage was released ahead of a ceremony, which will see the US Vice President Mike Pence participate in a $569 million (€504 million) cocaine offload in San Diego.

According to the reports, the USCG Cutter Munro vessel took part in 14 drug interdictions and disruptions in the past three months, resulting in a record 17,700 kilograms (39,000 pounds) of cocaine being seized from smugglers.
