Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vowed to continue expanding its missile programme, despite mounting economic and political pressure on Iran to curb its military ambitions.
He made the statement when delivering a speech at Azadi Square on Monday, as thousands of people flocked to central Tehran to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The Iranian president stressed, “We have not asked, and will never ask for permission in developing our missile arsenal, including the anti-aircraft, air defence, sea-to-surface, anti-ship and surface-to-surface missiles, as we continue to pursue our path to military might.”
