Two power generators were taken to a storage depot in the Italian port city of Genoa on Monday after unions and workers refused to load them onto a ship bound for Saudi Arabia. Protesters say the equipment could be used to benefit the Saudi-led campaign in Yemen.

Port workers went on strike on Monday morning as the Bahri Yambu ship docked in Genoa.

Local officials agreed to keep the generators in the depot while the customs and financial police make their assessments.

The Bahri Yambu already faced protests in France’s Le Havre port, where it was unable to load an arms shipment and in the Spanish town of Santander.
