Scuffles broke out in downtown Beirut on Friday as anti-government protesters faced former Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s supporters from the Future Movement.

According to reports, the unrest started when Future Movement supporters visiting the tomb of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri on the 15th anniversary of his assassination, met the counter-protesters.

Footage shot in central Beirut shows protesters being dispersed by security forces, as some of the demonstrators jump and chant.

Lebanon’s latest round of protests, on Friday, comes after the government of Prime Minister Hassan Diab and his financial rescue plan won a vote of confidence on Tuesday.

Lebanon has been rocked by months of anti-government protests since autumn last year.

Demonstrators have been calling for an end to the current political class that they consider corrupt and incompetent, amid Lebanon’s ongoing financial crisis.
