Lebanon’s banks and schools were once again closed this week, as protesters resumed anti-government rallies, blocking roads and government buildings. Recent demonstrations have been fuelled by anger at perceived high-level corruption, as the country grapples with a deepening economic crisis. Bank branches were already shut for nearly half of October. Hassan Obeid, Finance Professor at the European Business School of Paris, tells us more about Lebanon’s economic crisis.
