Leader of the Social Liberal Party and far-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro cast his vote for the Brazilian general election in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, October 7.

The former paratrooper arrives at election day leading the polls with 35%. Behind him with 22% is former Sao Paulo mayor Fernando Haddad, who replaces jailed former Brazilian president Lula da Silva as the Worker’s Party (PT) candidate.

If no candidate secures an outright majority, the election will go to a run-off scheduled for October 28.
