Javier Bardem is set to speak at the UN’s New York City headquarters, on Monday, August 19, within the Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction.
The actor, who won an Academy Award for his role in the 2007 film, No Country for Old Men, has been an environmental activist with Greenpeace focusing on the protection of Antarctica since 2018.
The meeting is the third out of four planned sessions which are expected to set out the framework for an international legally binding instrument for the protection and sustainable use of marine diversity in these specific areas.
