The Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft crew leave Baikonur, Kazakhstan on their way to Moscow on Friday, October 12, a day after their mission’s launch failure and emergency landing.
NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin were on board the spacecraft, which was scheduled to dock to the International Space Station (ISS) later in the day.
Following a booster failure in the ship’s propelling rocket, the crew returned to Earth in ballistic descent. The capsule is believed to have landed 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) away from the village of Zhezqazghan.
They were retrieved by a search and rescue team in good health conditions and returned to Baikonur Cosmodrome.
