Luxembourg: Johnson calls US-led airstrikes ‘entirely right,’ German FM highlights Russia’s role
“The action that was taken by France, the UK, by the United States in launching calibrated and proportionate strikes against Assad’s chemical capabilities was entirely right,” UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said upon arrival for the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.
Johnson’s German counterpart Heiko Maas also touched upon the Syrian crisis and the necessity of a political solution, saying that without taking into consideration the role of Russia, the crisis would not be resolved.
Foreign Ministers from all EU member states meet in Luxembourg today where they are set to discuss the latest updates on the Syrian front, relations with Russia and potential new punitive measures against Iran.
