The European Union’s Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier appeared to urge UK Prime Minister Theresa May to open a dialogue with the opposition Labour Party and consider Jeremy Corbyn’s proposals for a deal with the EU, while speaking at a press conference in Luxembourg on Monday.
“Something has to give,” Barnier stressed. He also warned that the time left to settle a divorce deal was “extremely short.”
“I heard Theresa May saying herself that she wished to open a dialogue with the opposition [Labour] and what can I say,” he stated.
Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, who was also attending the press event, pointed out that that the responsibility for finding a Brexit solution sat with London.
