Friends and family members gathered to mourn three victims of the Mormon LeBaron family massacre in La Mora, Sonora, on Thursday after nine members of the family were killed by suspected drug cartel gunmen in northern Mexico.
The remains of victims Dawna Ray Langford and her two young sons were later laid to rest.
“This should not have happened to three women and the children are all hurt, injured and died needlessly and I just feel like it absolutely has to be taken care of, or much more other terrible things and it won’t end here, I am very sure of that,” Dawna Ray Langford’s mother Karen Woolley said.
Members of the family and close friends were seen around the coffins of the victims before it was driven to a cemetery to complete the burial ceremony.
On Tuesday the Mormon family was gunned down in their cars killing nine of its members, three women, and six children. The attack is thought to have been carried out by a drug cartel operating between Mexico and the US. An investigation into the events is still ongoing.
