Member of Pakistan’s National Assembly Imran Khan said that the country had taken “a heavy punishment by participating” in America’s War on Terror during an interview in Islamabad on Monday.

“Three to four million people – were internally displaced. And the loss to the economy is over 100 billion dollars,” he said.

“The aid given in proportion to the damage done in Pakistan by participating in the US war – there is no comparison. The aid was what? They say, about 20 billion dollars, maybe 25 billion dollars”, he added.

The former cricketer also said that almost 70,000 people had died and that tourism in the country had “collapsed”.

“The lesson learned, from the Pakistan point of view, is to never, never fight someone else’s war,” Khan said.
