Thirteen people died when a dam collapsed in the Siberian Krasnoyarsk region, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported on Saturday. A further 15 remain missing.
According to EMERCOM, Artel’s gold mine dam collapsed at 6 in the morning local time (23:00 Friday GMT) near the village of Schetinkino on the on the Seyba River, flooding two working dormitories.
EMERCOM workers headed to the rescue operation from the city of Krasnoyarsk and the Republic of Khakassia.
After the incident 14 people were evacuated to the district hospital, three are in serious condition, 11 are in moderate condition, the Ministry of Health reports.
