Russia: $300k Louis Vuitton World Cup-themed suitcase sells at charity auction

A limited edition Louis Vuitton trunk was shown to the public and sold during a Naked Heart Foundation charity event in Moscow on Thursday.

The last of 25 special suitcases designed by French fashion house Louis Vuitton put under the hammer for €250,000 ($291,600) during the gala-dinner in Moscow’s Pashkov House.

The new owner will receive a trunk filled with 14 footballs, 13 of which are replicas from previous World Cups specially reproduced by Adidas.

“All of them are signed by legends who have participated in the World Cup and won the trophy,” founder of the Naked Heart Foundation Natalia Vodyanova noted.

The fourteenth additional ball is made from cowhide leather and was designed by in-house at Louis Vuitton.

The event itself was part of the Russia-Qatar year of culture and was attended by the Ambassador Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya.

“Qatar partners with the foundation to get the necessary support to assist people with special needs with whatever requirements they need. This occasion is also a part of the year of culture, of a greater framework of cultural collaboration with Russia, which is the year of 2018,” the Ambassador said.

The fundraiser will benefit the Naked Heart Foundation and was supported by the organising committee of FIFA World Cup 2022, which will take place in Qatar.
