Russia: Aerial footage captures extent of Siberian deadly dam collapse

The Russian Emergencies Ministry has released aerial footage of the site of a deadly dam collapse in the Siberian Krasnoyarsk region on Saturday. Fifteen people were confirmed dead with a remaining thirteen people missing.

According to the ministry, the gold mine dam collapsed at 6 am local time (23:00 Friday GMT) near the village of Schetinkino on the Seyba River, flooding two working dormitories.

After the incident 14 people were rushed to the district hospital, three in critical condition, and 11 with moderate injuries, according to the Ministry of Health reports.

The Russia’s Investigative Committee launched a criminal probe of the deadly accident, while local EMERCOM claims the dam was not registered by official bodies and was built with numerous safety violations.
