Russia: Children of Russian women accused of being IS members return to Moscow

A flight carrying 27 children of Russian women accused of co-operating with Islamic State landed at Moscow’s Ramenskoe Airport on Sunday, according to EMERCOM and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The children, aged between four and 13, were detained in Al-Rusafa prison in Baghdad along with their mothers.

All of the minors were born in Russia which facilitated their return to Moscow. Their relatives live in a number of Russian regions, including Dagestan, Chechnya, Moscow and Penza.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that there are a total of 699 children belonging to Russian citizens who parted for the Middle East.
