Documents on the creation of an economic corridor between the Russian Federation, China and Mongolia are ready and will soon be approved, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated after talks with his Mongolian counterpart Damdin Tsogtbaatar in Moscow on Wednesday.
According to Lavrov, the project “will connect the three countries. It will include a motorway, we are also talking about railway logistics projects, which are quite feasible.”
“We are in favour of maximally taking into account Mongolia’s interests in this tripartite cooperation, including its interest to increase transit through its territory from China and Russia to Europe,” the Russian foreign minister added.
The Mongolian counterpart emphasised the importance of the project.
“The next meeting of the heads of the three countries will be organised at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Qingdao in June this year,” he said, adding “such communication will give impetus to the further advancement of practical cooperation in the field of railways, financial and credit relations and will lead to a higher level of interaction.”
