Russian arms manufacturer Kalashnikov Concern revealed a civilian version of its AK-12 rifle, the Tactical Rifle 3 (TR3), at Patriot Park outside of Moscow on Monday.
“The only difference between the AK-12 and TR3 is that TR3 being a civilian rifle is semiautomatic only, and has a special mechanism that prevents firing the weapon with a folding stock,” Vladimir Onokoi, a Kalashnikov representative, said.
The Defence Ministry adopted the AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles in early 2018. The weapon is designed for the ‘Warrior’ complex. At the end of last year, the first batch was shipped to the military department. It is expected that by 2020 these Warrior complexes will be issued to all military personnel.
