Russia: ‘Thank you for never screwing up’ – Student thanks Lavrov for his professionalism

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was praised by one student during a Q&A session at ‘the Territory of Meanings’ All-Russian Youth Educational Forum in the village of Dvoriki near Moscow, Friday, for “never screwing up.”

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): “But we are always ready to negotiate. In our country, from the time when merchants were setting up life, remember the way of arrangement – they would just shake hands and there was nothing to sign. It is still one of our people’s features. What we promise, what we have agreed upon, we always accomplish. And if we do not promise, then we simply cannot do this for one reason or another. We are also honest about this.”

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): “We went to a Russian sauna and left the steam room, sat down at a table – there was beer (sorry, I said it), well, vobla [Russian fish snack]. And we just sit in the towels, as usual, and he suddenly says – I decided to send you to Washington. I was startled by it and I say – Evgeniy Maksimovich, but what for? “What do you mean what for? You are not politically mature.” I say – in what sense? Washington, he says, is the main point abroad.”
