Coach of the Croatian national football team Zlatko Dalic talked about the “miracle” the team performed in making it to the World Cup final and challenges the side face in the final showdown with France during a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.

“We have nailed the name of our country in the pages of football history. If one has a look at the conditions, at the infrastructure in our country, I think, [they would conclude] that we performed a miracle,” said Dalic following Croatia’s wins in the World Cup and a historic 2-1 semi-final victory over England in extra time on Wednesday.

Talking about the challenges Croatia could face in the upcoming match with France, he said that they “know very well how to attack, defend. They conduct a very dangerous counterattack, they move very quickly across the pitch. Specifically for this reason we have to play very carefully.”

The Balkans country of 4 million people has reached its first ever World Cup final and is now set to battle it out with France for football’s ultimate prize at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on 15 July.
