Spain: Barcelona’s ‘anti-capitalists’ join push for Catalan separatism on Independence Day

Around 120,000 anti-capitalist Catalans marched through the streets of Barcelona on Monday, part of the mass demonstrations celebrating the region’s national day and demanding a referendum for independence.

SOT, Anna Gabriel, Deputy of Parliament of Catalonia (Catalan): “The Catalan Country, and its maximal political freedom, and the possibility of building an alternative economic and social model to colonial patriarchal capitalism aren’t possible inside this state and the European Union.”

SOT, Aitor Blanc, Popular Unity Candidacy member (Catalan): “Fear of the 78’s regime and this constitution, any fear of their courts, any fear to decide our future, today, we gut the monarchy.”
