Israeli drones dropped tear gas canisters over Palestinian protesters near Shujaiya in the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, as demonstrations commemorating ‘Nakba Day’ continued.
The protesters were demonstrating against violence that saw over 50 people killed in marches on Monday, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Israel does not release figures and denies suggestions it uses excessive force.
The six-week long ‘Great March of Return’ rallies will culminate tomorrow, with more violent clashes expected.
Nakba- meaning ‘Catastrophe’ in Arabic – refers to the 1948 Palestinian exodus, where an estimated 700,000 Palestinians were expelled to make way for the newly created state of Israel.
