State of Palestine: ‘Nakba Day’ protests met with teargas, water cannons in Nablus

Israeli forces deployed water cannons and tear gas on Palestinian protesters in Nablus in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, as demonstrations commemorating ‘Nakba Day’ continued.

Palestinians continue to protest after yesterday’s opening ceremony of the new US embassy in Jerusalem, during which more than 60 Palestinians were killed.

Nakba, means ‘Catastrophe’ in Arabic and refers to the 1948 Palestinian exodus, where an estimated 700,000 Palestinians were expelled to make way for the newly created state of Israel.
