State of Palestine: Trump protesters repelled under volley of tear gas

Palestinian security forces fired tear gas at dozens of protesters in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Saturday after coming under a barrage of rocks hurled by youngsters.

Protesters marched on the road leading into the village of Nabi Saleh as part of a planned rally against US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Israeli forces had blocked off the road into the village and declared the area a closed military zone.

Protesters began hurling rocks before being repelled back under a volley of tear gas fired from armoured vehicles.

On Friday, Palestinian factions called for a ‘Day of Rage’ after the conclusion of Friday prayers, the sixth since Trump’s decision.
