Yemen needs a ‘political solution’ with joint new governmental institutions, Houthi delegation member Abdul Malik Alagri said during UN-sponsored Yemen peace talks held in Rimbo on Friday.

“We need a new political transition, we need new governmental and presidential institutions but also mixed security committees,” Alagri said, adding that “the solution is to create new institutions where both parties are involved and they [parties] will be respected.”

He concluded by saying that Yemen does “not need a partial political solution but a full solution.”

Fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Houthi fighters flared up again around Hodeidah in

November, despite the United Nations pushing for a resumption of peace talks.

September’s UN-sponsored peace talks in Geneva failed after the Houthi delegation failed to show up for the consultations. The Rimbo peace talks kicked off on Thursday and will conclude next Thursday, December 13.
