Fast-rising Russian UFC fighter Petr Yan and former UFC featherweight champion Brazilian Jose Aldo shared their expectations of the Saturday fight for the vacant UFC bantamweight belt in Abu Dhabi, Thursday.
“I understand Aldo is a big name, a really famous guy, but I am here to become not less famous and not less popular. I believe he deserves the fight for the title, he was promised the fight with [Henry] Cejudo. I believe he is still really dangerous and this fight will be really cool,” said Petr Yan.
Aldo in turn highlighted his perfect shape, comparing himself to “a Ferrari with high-octane gasoline in.” He went on to share his plans, “winning the belt you can be sure I will be fighting again in October, so the move to the higher weight will be after I dominate in this division,” said Aldo.
This Saturday the UFC 251 event will be headlined by three title fights. In the final title bout Petr Yan, the No. 3 ranked fighter in the official UFC bantamweight rankings, and Jose Aldo, who made his bantamweight debut in December 2019, will fight for the belt, which was vacated by Henry Cejudo earlier this year.
