UK arts support: Government announces €1.7B emergency package

In the UK, Arts and cultural institutions are set to receive 1.7 billion euros from the government to help the industry recover from the pandemic.

Some theatres and music venues have recently warned they might never open again without support.
The package is for museums, galleries, theatres, independant cinemas, heritage sites and music venues.
Almost a billon euros of grants will be up for grabs, and close to 300 million euros in loans is available.

It’s still unclear when the venues will open again but Prime Minister Boris is expected to announce new measures this week.
