Contenders for the Conservative Party leadership, and thus to succeed Theresa May as UK Prime Minister, arrived at BBC’s News Broadcasting House on Tuesday evening to partake in a televised debate, following a vote in the House of Commons resulting in Dominic Raab losing his spot in the race.

The five remaining candidates, Boris Johnson, Jeremy Hunt, Michael Gove, Sajid Javid and Rory Stewart, will spar on live television before a new round of votes on Wednesday which will determine who the next leader of the Conservative Party and UK prime minister will be.

Current Prime Minister Theresa May announced her resignation in May after failing to secure a Brexit deal. The next prime minister will inherit the negotiation process and a deadline to leave the European Union by October 31.
