England manager Gareth Southgate held a press conference alongside striker Marcus Rashford at London’s Wembley Stadium on Friday.

“I think we’re competitive against any team, but equally I think there are a number of teams, who on their day, as proved in the summer, are capable of beating us. So, we have to keep striving to improve and I think the mentality of the team is to do that; they’re hungry to do that, they want to keep learning. We want to keep pushing each other every day in training and if we do that we can take those performances into the field. So, for us I’m looking forward to the new international season,” Southgate said.

The players trained at St. George’s Park in Burton earlier in the day with the likes of Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling and Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho all being put through their paces.

England sit at the top of Group A having smashed the Czech Republic 5-0 and Montenegro 5-1 in their two games so far, while Bulgaria, having played four games, lie in fifth with just two points.
