The House of Commons voted in favour of the government’s motion to extend Article 50 beyond the UK’s withdrawal date of March 29 and thus delay Brexit, with MPs voting 412 votes to 202, a majority of 210.

Prime Minister Theresa May will now seek permission from the EU to extend Art.50 until 30 June, 2019.

“Tonight I reiterate our conviction that a deal can be agreed based on our alternative plan that can command support across the House. And I also reiterate our support for a public vote not as political point-scoring but as a realistic option to break the deadlock,” the leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn said after the vote.

There was no immediate reply from May or any other Cabinet minister.
