Thousands of supporters of Scottish independence marched through the capital Edinburgh on Saturday.

A motorcycle procession imitating the world-famous ‘Thunder in the Glen’ bike rally got the march off to a start. It was followed by processions of bagpipe bands and marchers waving the Scottish white and blue flag, the Saltire, as well as the European Union (EU) flag.

Scottish National Party (SNP) MP Joanna Cherry said an independent Scotland would sit “at the heart of Europe” if it became independent.

The British Isles northernmost country voted by a majority to remain within the EU during the 2016 Brexit referendum. Many feel that Scotland is now being forced to leave the EU against its own will.
