US Senate passes Hong Kong human rights bill

China has summoned a US diplomat after the Senate passed a bill to support human rights in Hong Kong following months of often violent unrest.
If the bill becomes law, top Chinese and Hong Kong officials could be sanctioned by the US in the future.
Meanwhile, a standoff between police and protesters on a Hong Kong university campus shows no signs of ending.
